I posted about building a lab environment the other day for the VCAP admin exams with some generalities around the exam environment and someone asked about kit specifics:

DCA:
2 Physical hosts, one virtual machine (student desktop a.k.a. controlcenter)
18 second-level VMs (nested)
225GB

CIA:
21 first level VMs (nested)
23 second-level VMs (nested x2)
638GB

DTA:
18 first level VMs (one nesting)
33 second-level VMs (incl replica’s) (nested x2)
778GB

  1. That’s not too bad. The official optimize and scale class is about 575Gb. The VSAN was about 475. Though when exported it dropped to under a 100 🙂
