I started this page as a place to put my answers to various questions I get asked as a [now former] VMware Instructor, VMware vExpert and storage guy. I’ll also use it for reviews, tips and tricks as well as scripts I find useful.
I’ve used VMware products in production since 2001 starting with GSX 1.0 back before ESX 1 shipped. I achieved my first VCP (3) in 2007, my second (4) in 2009 and in 2010 became a VMware Certified Instructor. In 2011 I added VCAP4-DCA and in 2012 added VCP5-DCV and VCAP5-DCA. I’ve since added VCAP-CIA, VCAP-CID, VCP-Cloud, VCP6-DCV, VCP6-NV, VCAP6-DTM Deploy, VCAP6-DCV Deploy, VCIX6-NV, VCIX6-CMA, and was selected as a VMware vExpert in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. I’m also a NetApp Certified Expert, MCSE 2003 with Messaging and Security Specializations, IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert (Blade servers, High-Performance Servers and Director), Certified Netware Engineer and I have a Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification from the Illinois Department of Public Health. Plus I slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night. And the Daily Llama said on my deathbed I would achieve supreme control (or order a Supreme-to-go. Whatever.) so I’ve got that going for me.
I worked for VMware for 5 years developing and scripting the certification exams, primarily VCAP/VCIX live lab/Deploy exams.
My blog will focus on virtualization and clouds including the tools to manage and the hardware required. I have lots of other interests (photography, motorcycles, travel, family) so I reserve the right to go off topic whenever I want. Oh, and bad puns are always free. Not always punny, but always free.
Any opinions expressed here are my own and do not reflect the corporate stance of VMware, NetApp, Buy n Large (BnL), Wonka Industries or any previous employer. No vApps were harmed in the making of this blog. Well, not much.
